Barolo Tour - Revello
English version
Special focus on Barolo. Everything online in one page: Barolo - Special focus
Fratelli Revello was our very first visit at this Barolo Tour - monday morning at 10 am.
Revello is situated in La Morra and is one of Elio Altares "students" from the time where Barolo production went from traditional to modern winemaking in the area.
With "modern" winemaking we mean the use of barrique for ageing the wine. Producers of the modern method started using small 225 liters barrique instead of large oak casks as it was tradition until the 1980'es.
The Revello family went tenant-farmer of a domain owned by the parish S. Martin in La Morra, in 1954. The year after Giovanni, the grandfather, and his two sons, Carlo and Enzo, started to cultivate the vineyards. The grapes were sold to bigger producers.
Then in 1967 the first vinification by the Revello family was made and the wine was sold on the market.
At 1982 the activity stopped for five years, because Enzo and Carlo choosed other professions.
In 1987 Carlo decided to turn back to the family domain and continue to work with the wine.
After three years Enzo also decided to come back and they took over the farm from their father Giacomo and their uncle Ercole.
Since 1992 Enzo and Carlo have been producing their own wine. Special work in the vineyards, "green harvest" and with help of new technology at the vinfication the wine has become quite famous internationally for it's quality.
Since 1990 the farm has been combined with a farm resort complete with 4 rooms.
When we arrived this monday morning we meet up with Enzo and his wife for a tating of the present vintages.
